Mississauga, Ontario – Dive Ontario is excited to announce that the Provincial Government has made the decision to move into Step Three of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen at 12:01am on Friday, June 16th! For the organization and our divers, this means that we can finally begin training in indoor pools and facilities again!

As outlined in Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen, Step Three allows for “Indoor sports and recreational fitness facilities to open subject to a maximum 50 percent capacity of the indoor space”. Face coverings in indoor public settings, as well as some outdoor public settings, and physical distancing requirements remain in place throughout Step Three. The province will remain in Step Three of the Roadmap for at least 21 days, which means we may move past Step Three no earlier than Friday, August 6th. As some municipalities may have more restrictions than others, we hope to provide more information and clarity in the coming days, pertaining to which areas and facilities will be opening up and what their restrictions and capacities may entail. We will also release information on which clubs throughout the province will be opening up their indoor and outdoor facilities, and we will work with them to ensure that we are maximizing the number of divers training at each location.

In the meantime, Dive Ontario would like to thank you all for your patience and resilience through the past year and a half. What we have been through together showcases the strength of our community and the obstacles that we can conquer. This news represents some light at the end of the tunnel, and although there is still time for changes and details and regulations for the beginning of next season are still up in the air, we very excited to be able to see more divers back in the pool in the upcoming weeks!

Please view the Ontario Government’s news release on moving into Step Three, and the regulation for the full list of public health and workplace safety measures that need to be followed.

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available to us, but if you have any immediate questions, please contact your local club or contact us at info@diveontario.com.
