Committees & Board of Directors
Dive Ontario is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that provides strategic leadership, financial oversight, and governance for the organization. The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of Dive Ontario, ensuring accountability to members, and supporting the long-term growth and success of diving across Ontario.
Board Directors are elected by the membership and work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, clubs, coaches, officials, athletes, and partners to advance the sport and strengthen the diving community.

The Role of Committees
Committees are an important part of Dive Ontario’s governance and operational structure. They provide advice, recommendations, and expertise that support informed decision-making by the Board of Directors and staff.
Committee members contribute valuable knowledge, experience, and perspectives that help strengthen the organization and support its mission. Service on a committee is an excellent opportunity to give back to the sport while helping shape the future of diving in Ontario.
Previous experience in diving is welcomed but not required. We encourage participation from individuals with a wide range of personal, professional, volunteer, community, sport, and lived experiences. Diverse perspectives strengthen our decision-making and help ensure Dive Ontario continues to serve the needs of athletes, coaches, officials, clubs, and members across the province.
Whether your background is in sport, education, business, finance, governance, communications, marketing, human resources, technology, project management, nonprofit leadership, community engagement, or another area, your skills and insights may be valuable to our work.
Committees operate in an advisory capacity and help the organization:
- Develop and review policies, procedures, and governance practices
- Support financial oversight and risk management
- Advance strategic and operational priorities
- Provide technical expertise to support athlete, coach, official, and club development
- Strengthen organizational effectiveness and accountability
- Identify opportunities for growth and continuous improvement
Committee members work collaboratively with Board Directors, staff, and other volunteers to provide recommendations that support the organization’s goals and objectives.
Standing Committees
Dive Ontario’s committee structure is organized under four standing committees. All committee work within the organization falls under one of these areas.
- Technical Committee:
The Technical Committee provides leadership and expertise related to the sport of diving. Areas of focus may include athlete development, coaching, officiating, competitions, technical standards, and programming initiatives. - Finance Committee:
The Finance Committee supports responsible financial management through oversight of budgeting, financial reporting, financial policies, risk management, and long-term organizational sustainability. - Human Resources & Governance Committee:
The Human Resources & Governance Committee supports Board effectiveness, governance best practices, policy development, succession planning, volunteer recruitment, and human resource matters. - Strategy & Operations Committee:
The Strategy & Operations Committee supports organizational planning, strategic initiatives, operational priorities, partnerships, projects, and opportunities that advance Dive Ontario’s mission and objectives.
Time Commitment & Expectations
Committee service is a rewarding volunteer opportunity that allows individuals to contribute their expertise, perspectives, and experience while supporting the sport community.
Committee members are expected to:
- Attend scheduled meetings, typically held virtually
- Review meeting materials in advance
- Participate actively in discussions and decision-making
- Provide thoughtful feedback and recommendations
- Work collaboratively and professionally with fellow committee members
- Maintain confidentiality when required
Meeting frequency and time commitments vary depending on committee responsibilities and current projects.
