Lyn, Ontario – Dive Ontario was able to catch-up with Dive Toronto diver, Thomas Von Hasselbach.

Thomas is an Aspire B diver who shares how Canadian divers such as Caeli McKay and Pamela Ware keep him motivated. With the majority of our Toronto diving clubs closed, Thomas finds great joy in cheering on the divers that are representing Canada!

Q: At what age did you begin to dive?

I was 9 years old when I started diving.

Q: Why did you start diving?

I have always liked jumping into water so my parents thought I should try diving and I loved it.

Q: What keeps you motivated?

Watching the divers that compete for Canada like Caeli McKay and Pamela Ware.

Q: Favourite dive?

203c and 301c (back one and a half tuck and reverse dive tuck)

Q: Favourite exercise?

Hollow holds

Q: What is your biggest fear while diving?

Hitting the board

Q: Favourite pool to dive in?

The pool in London Ontario because most of my family lives there and they usually come to watch me compete.

Q: What is the best part about competing?

The feeling of going in vertical and knowing you will be getting good scores.
