Lyn, Ontario – Dive Ontario was able to interview Nathan Hogarth from the Kitchener-Waterloo Diving Club.

Nathan shares a little bit about why he started diving and the divers that motivate him throughout his journey. He aspires to get a diving scholarship and go to the Pan Am games. Keep up the great work!

Q: At what age did you begin to dive?

I was 12 years old when I started diving.

Q: Why did you start diving?

I was inspired by another diver at the top of his game.

Q: What keeps you motivated?

Knowing that I have the potential to do something great.

Q: Favourite dive?

Front 3 and ½ tuck

Q: What is your greatest diving accomplishment?

Being able to achieve National level was my greatest accomplishment so far in diving.

Q: What is your favourite memory from diving?

Competing in Ottawa last February.

Q: Favourite exercise?

V sit holds

Q: What are some lessons you have learned since you began diving?

I won’t die if I try something new! Being scared ensures that I am being safe. It’s okay to be scared. Work through the pain.

Q: Favourite sports quote?

Gretsky- “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.

Q: Biggest fear while diving?

Falling off the board and smacking the water.

Q: What is the best part of competing?

Getting to see friends from other clubs.

Q: What are your long-term goals for diving?

Get a diving scholarship and going to the Pan Am games.
