Lyn, Ontario – Dive Ontario was able to interview Donovan Tremblay from the Windsor Diving Club.

Donovan was inspired to start diving because of his older brother, Dmitri. He enjoys diving and being able to learn new skills. One of his fondest memories includes learning two new dives, the 610 and 301C.

Q: At what age did you begin to dive?

I was 7 years old when I started diving.

Q: What does diving mean to you?

To me diving means accomplishment. It’s a lot of fun and different every day.

Q: Why did you start diving?

I started because I saw that my older brother was diving and I wanted to be just like him.

Q: What keeps you motivated?

After a competition, I feel like I’ve hit a new level and that I can do more dives. This pushes me to keep practicing.

Q: Favourite dive?

Front 1 ½

Q: If you could change one thing about diving it would be?

Warmer water!!!!

Q: Do you play other sports?

Yes- soccer and basketball and I’m a runner!

Q: What is your favourite memory from diving?

Learning two new dives, 610A and 301C during the warm-up of Ontario Provincials so that I would be able to compete. I won first place that weekend!

Q: Favourite exercise?

I love the trampoline!!

Q: What are some lessons you have learned since you began diving?

I’ve learned to persevere.

Q: What is your biggest fear while diving?

Smacking!

Q: What is your favourite pool to dive in?

The Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre.

Q: What is the best part of competing?

The feeling after you win!

Q: Who is your biggest cheerleader/support?

My mom for sure!

Q: What are your long-term goals for diving?

My long-term goal is to pay for school with a scholarship!
