Lyn, Ontario – Dive Ontario was able to interview Dmitri Tremblay from the Windsor Diving Club.

Dmitri has been diving for six years, he started when he was just 6 years old! During the pandemic, Dmitri finds ways to keep himself motivated to ensure that he is ready to get back into the pool once it is open.

Q: At what age did you begin to dive?

I was 6 years old when I started diving.

Q: What does diving mean to you?

Diving is a way for me to have fun. It’s a challenge.

Q: Why did you start diving?

My mom gave me the suggestion and I went to a practice and liked it.

Q: What keeps you motivated?

Doing my own workouts during COVID. Every day pushing myself a bit more.

Q: Favourite dive?

Reverse

Q: What is your greatest diving accomplishment?

Going to the Ontario Games when I was only 9 years old.

Q: Do you play other sports?

Yes- Soccer and Basketball and I love biking.

Q: What is your favourite memory from diving?

Finally being able to win first place against competitors that were older than me.

Q: Favourite exercise?

Pike ups

Q: What are some lessons you have learned since you began diving?

I’ve learned to “stick with it”

Q: What is your biggest fear while diving?

Definitely doing a new dive and hitting the board or tower.

Q: What is your favourite pool to dive in?

The Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre.

Q: What is the best part of competing?

To be honest, I don’t enjoy competing but after I compete, I love the way it feels and the experience and then I want to do it again.

Q: Who is your biggest cheerleader/support?

My mom- definitely.

Q: Who is your diving role model?

My Coach- Ioana Marinescu.

Q: What are your long-term goals for diving?

I want to go to Nationals!

Q: Do you have a pre-competition routine?

Lol, I keep quiet and stay quiet and think.
