Ontario Shines at the 2026 Summer Senior National Championships

Ontario divers turned in a series of strong performances at the 2026 Summer Senior National Championships, held May 22–24, with athletes from across the province earning podium finishes and top-eight placements in all six individual finals. When the dust settled, Toronto Diving Academy (TDA) finished second overall in the team standings with 100 points, while Nepean-Ottawa (NEPEAN OTT), Optimal, KWDC, Forest City, and Windsor also contributed to Ontario’s impressive provincial showing.

Men’s 1M

TDA’s Emmitt Reesor was the top Ontario men’s finisher on the 1-metre springboard, landing an excellent silver medal with a score of 380.70. His consistent technique throughout the final put him well ahead of the field behind the winner. Optimal’s Victor Povzner rounded out a strong Ontario performance with a 5th-place finish (301.70), while TDA’s Nazar Kozhanov also made the final, finishing 6th with 299.30.

Men’s 3M

In the 3-metre springboard finals, Povzner once again delivered for Ontario, claiming the bronze medal with a score of 380.40 and demonstrating excellent consistency across all six dives. Reesor continued his impressive meet placing 6th in the final with a score of 356.45 — highlighted by a standout 305B that drew near-perfect marks.

Men’s Platform

TDA’s Ciro Mejia and Nathan Brown both qualified through prelims and made the platform final, finishing 4th and 5th respectively with scores of 393.00 and 381.90. Mejia’s final dive of the night — a 5237D — was one of the highest-scoring dives of the entire competition. Forest City’s Nigel Chambers also earned a spot in the final, placing 5th with 367.70 in a deep nine-diver field.

Women’s 1M

TDA’s Alexa Fung was Ontario’s top women’s 1-metre finisher, placing 4th in the final with a score of 222.15 and delivering a strong set of dives throughout the competition. Nepean-Ottawa’s Ella Lindsay rounded out Ontario’s day on the 1-metre board with a 6th-place finish (213.20), showing the provincial depth that has made the Ottawa-area program one to watch.

Women’s 3M

Windsor Diving Club’s Jocelyn Casey had a breakthrough performance on the 3-metre springboard, qualifying for the final and finishing strong in 6th place with 225.75 — a result that will give the Windsor program plenty of momentum heading into the fall season. KWDC’s Adele Melamud also competed strongly in the prelims, narrowly missing the final.

Women’s Platform

Ontario’s best result of the entire meet came in the women’s platform final, where Nepean-Ottawa’s Kate Miller delivered a dominant performance to claim the gold medal with a score of 346.60. Miller led from the front, posting the top score on four of her five dives and cementing herself as Canada’s top female platform diver. TDA’s Katelyn Fung earned the bronze medal (311.40), capping an outstanding meet for the Toronto club. Lindsay added a 6th-place finish (272.40) on platform for Nepean-Ottawa, giving the club two athletes in the top six of the same event.

Ontario clubs collectively made their mark on the team standings. TDA finished 2nd nationally with 100 points (46 men’s, 54 women’s), Nepean-Ottawa placed 5th with 32 points, Optimal 8th with 20, KWDC 11th with 8, Forest City 12th with 8, and Windsor 15th with 7 — a strong combined showing that speaks to the depth and development happening across the province.
