Sport Alliance Ontario honors Gord Peterson with the Sport Builder Award at the Ontario Sports Awards.

Dive Ontario is pleased to announce that Gord Peterson was presented with the Sport Builder Award last week at the Ontario Sports Awards.  This award is given to those who have made significant contributions to sport in Ontario, across a multitude of platforms and affecting a variety of sectors. We can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor than Gord, who has been deeply involved in diving for nearly 40 years.

After a highly successful career as a National Team diver, Gord assumed a variety of leadershiproles, including acting as President of Diving Plongeon Canada (94-96). Gord continues to be a FINA level dive judge and has represented Canada as a judge at a number of international competitions.  He has also acted as a Canadian Olympic Committee member for over 15 years, including being part of the Mission staff for the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games. Gord’s work for diving includes roles on international committees, such as the FINA Doping Panel (2005-09) and UANA Technical Diving Committee (1987-Present). Ensuring fairness in sport continues to be a focus for Gord and he has acted as Director for the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre since its inception in 2004.  To top it all off, Gord, as a board member for Toronto 2015, played a key role in securing the 2015 Pan American Games for Toronto.

Many congratulations on your award, Gord, and thank you for all your contributions to diving in Ontario, Canada and internationally!
